Apple has now released Mac OS X 10.6.8, the eighth maintenance update for Snow Leopard, via Software Update. The update prepares your Mac for installing Mac OS X Lion when it is released next month and includes other bug and security fixes since the release of Mac OS X 10.6.7 in late March.
Note: If you have Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard), you will need to download OS X El Capitan before you can upgrade to the latest Mac OS.
